ISLAMABAD: Another audio with a voice purported to be that of Imran Khan was leaked on Friday in which the chatter suggests horse trading in parliament during his tenure as PM.
This was the third leak to hit the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief in the past few weeks following the release of controversial audios on social media with the alleged voices of incumbent PM Shehbaz Sharif and his niece Maryum Nawaz.
In the latest audio, a voice believed to be Imran’s says: “You have a misunderstanding that now the number game is complete. Don’t think this is over (a reference to the vote of no-confidence against Imran in April this year).”
The audio goes on: “You see, 48 hours is a long long time. Big things are happening. I am making my own moves that we can’t make public.”
Imran’s alleged voice then speaks about “buying five (lawmakers)”. “I have given the message that those five (legislators) are very important. And tell him, if he secures five more and it turns to 10, the game will be in our hand.”
The conversation continues. “The nation is alarmed right now. Across the board, people want us to win in any way possible, so no one needs to worry if this is right or wrong — whatever the tactic. Even if someone breaks one (lawmaker), it will have a big impact,” the voice believed to be PTI chief’s is heard instructing his party members.
Last week, an audio revealed a conversation, allegedly between Imran and his then principal secretary, about the “cipher” shared by Pakistan’s former envoy to the US. The “cipher” has been used by Imran to develop a narrative that his removal as PM was part of a “foreign conspiracy”.
A day later, another clip — supposedly a continuation of the previous one — surfaced in which Imran’s alleged voice was heard discussing the “conspiracy” narrative with PTI leaders.
